Janet’s version. Enjoyed this so much. Completely lost myself in the raindrops! Thanks Chris. Great tutorial. All comments for improvement gratefully received.

Bravo! The dark water, water drops, and shadows, all so well done. It is stunning. Congratulations!
Hi Janet! What you did here is just amazing. I am actually in awe of how precisely you followed the tutorial. You executed everything so well that there is no place for improvements. You probably already know that first thing I look at are the tonal values, which are perfect here. The dark water is magnificent. The middle value leaves are fantastic and the light lily really stands out. I love how you did the texture on the yellow leaf in the bottom left corner. Beautiful light tones on the petals and of course the waterdrops! Congratulations Janet, be pround of it! :)
Thank you both for your encouraging comments. I’m glad that you’re pleased with it. I found it so satisfying to paint and also relaxing. The hours fly by when I’m painting! Not always a good thing😉.
I think I’ll have a go at the hydrangeas next. They look fun. Thanks again Chris for such calm and instructive tutorials.
PS. I indulged my fetish for brushes and bought myself a 12, 8 and 4 size of the Silver Black Velvet brushes and found them really good. I love the amount of water/paint they hold and the fine tip is excellent. They do take a little while to get used to re. amount of water etc but overall I’m a fan!
Excellent job here Janet. You have managed those pesky highlights really well.
Janet, this is an amazing painting! The blossom is so soft looking and the depth of darkness in the water is mesmerizing! The water droplets look so real, the leaves are juicy looking (to steal Chris’s phrase). The whole painting is just lovely! Congratulations!
Thanks Terri and Fletchrf for your lovely comments.
