The painting depicts “Wayang Golek” (Marionette Puppet) – a traditional Indonesian puppet show of art dolls made of wood, which is especially very popular in the Sunda area, which is in the west part of Java Island. Originally I’m from Poland, but I had a chance to live in Indonesia, in west Java, for about a year and I took thousands of photos. I knew I would paint these puppets one day and finally I did it. It was a sentimental journey back to Indonesia.
